  • How To's ~ All About Fonts

A while ago someone asked about a font that mimicked the style of printing used by architects and designers on blueprints. I searched and searched but couldn't find a free one. This comes close, it's called Graphite. Click on it to download to your desktop, then open your Control Panel, locate and open the Fonts folder, and drag the icon into the Folder. Close Studio and reopen to add the new font to the text line up.

      Re: Blueprint Style Font

Thanks, Merlyn. That was me that asked for the blueprint style font. Thank you very much for searching and searching. I followed your directions (amid some of my uncertainty about the steps) and it took me only a minute to download, find the fonts folder, and yadda, yadda, yadda...I've got the closest thing to blueprint font that "free" can buy. I owe you chocolate.

This font is called Damned Architect (I don't know why) but it does resemble hand block printing.

Download and save to your desktop; then drag to your Fonts folder found under Control Panel. You may have to extract files first to locate the font file.

Where is the Fonts folder typically found? I used to know but this knowledge has left my brain.

The Fonts Folder is located under your Control Panel.

            Viewing your Fonts

follow up to a previous thread on adding fonts...

This freeware allows you to open your fonts folder and view each font with a full alphabet and numbers. It only takes a minute to download and runs on any Windows program including Vista.

            3. Bradley Hand
            4. Century Gothic

            8. Eurostile
            9. Franklin Gothic Book
            10. Futura It
            11. Gills Sans
            12. Graphite Light

            14. Kabel
            15. Lithos Pro Regular
            16. Lucida Sans
            17. Maiandra
            18. MS Reference

                  Re: Blueprint Style Font

With Vista operating system, you may find that your computer is associating this new font file with another program (mine wanted to make an Irfanview file!) and it tells you it can't load it to your Fonts Folder. If this happens, save the file to your desktop, open it, right click on the file and Choose Properties. Change the program to Windows Font Viewer. Then drag it to your Fonts Folder in the Control Panel. You want the True Type Font file in most cases.

                    Re: Blueprint Style Font

Here's one that looks like an architect's handwriting (blueprint style).

It's called Flux Architect. It's a True Type font.

                    Found here for FREE.

                              Graphite Lite Font

I've found a new free Graphite Lite font to download:
                              http://www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/S...Light_Att.aspx
it looks a little "scratchy" displayed in Studio on your screen, but prints fine

                                    Hi Joanie,
Our program does not have fonts in it, all the fonts are based on what you have installed. Are you sure you have the font in your font program file or is it saved somewhere else on your computer?

If you had your Studio program open when you installed the font, you have to close Studio and then reopen to view the new font.

                                        Re: Blueprint Style Font

download and use handwriting fonts for your signature on emails, in forums, on your storyboard notes, etc.

watch this little how-to slide show (no audio) to learn how to use wisestamp for your email program:

                                        http://www.minutesmatter.com/2010/courses/Wisestamp.avi
instead of writing your name as shown in the slide show, use a handwriting font like the one in my signature below (Segoe Script Italic)
