  • How To's ~ Drawing Kitchen Renderings

It's difficult to turn a flat 2D rendering into a drawing that gives the appearance of depth and dimension. Here are a few tips to consider:
    1. Shadows - use the polygon or close bezier tool to create shadows under counters and alongside cabinets. Remove the outline (Line Width-None) and fill the image with a dark color, black is quickest. Then move the transparency bar down to around 8-10: until you get the look you want, not too dark, just a hint of shadow.
    2. Add a little "top" to your counters with the polygon tool. Fill with the same material as the rectangle below; change the line color to suit the granite or quartz or whatever fill you use.
    3. Mouldings - depending on the moulding you've used, you can duplicate and rotate it to create a piece to give depth to the elevation. If you have drawn a crown with simple rectangles, it's easy to duplicate and downsize it; however, the crown from the Kitchen Module or the Architectural Elements can't be used that way. Hence, my "workaround." Download the attached .mms file for more step by step instructions.
