  • How To's ~ Using Gradient Fill to Delineate Walls

    Instead of outlines, use Gradient Fill to indicate where the walls meet in a room. In this example of an attic dormer reading nook, there are six different "planes." Filling them all with the same color makes them look flat, even with their original outlines. Deleting the lines and adding Gradient Fill gives depth and dimension. On the window wall, the lighter color is in the center; on the sloped ceiling, the darker color is on the bottom and the lighter on top. Here's another example in which the outer wall are darker on the corners. Think about your light source also.

    PS have you noticed that tableskirts are making a comeback? Especially the more tailored, pleated ones....

    I agree! Experimenting with Gradient fills can definitely make a huge difference in a rendering.
