Default I need help making Sandy Chapman valance into a panel

My client likes the Sandy Chapman valance, but needs coverage for sun over her window and she asked me if I could make the top of a drapery panel like the valance, but yet let it be long. (She doesn't want the valance over panels because I've already asked that option).

I could think right off hand to maybe make a cuffed panel with large spaces in between finials to get the swoop effect and then maybe add the horns on separately?

What do you think?

Thanks, Fonda

Hi Fonda,

How long of a valance are you talking about or are you talking about making the valance into a drapery panel?

I have attached the Sandy Chapman style valance so others could see what you were talking about.

We talked about turning the valance into a panel and she asked me to give her an idea with Studio so she could visualize what it might look like.

The windows are 40" wide X 72" long. The drapery will need to be about 105". Two windows flank a fireplace and she wants each pulled back to one side with Italian stringing or a tassel. She also has self-valanced sheers on the bottom 1/2 of the windows on Helser Bros poles and rings. She would like the panel hung on finials.

She just needs something to help with the sun on the top half of the window as they face the west.

Thanks,
Fonda

This is what I had made up for her originally.

Its on page 2 if it comes up right.

is this close to what you had in mind? your customer does know that the only way she can keep that sandy chapman horn is to have it as an attached valance to the panel, and also that it will be somewhat distorted by being pulled to one side?

bring in the chapman pieces and the drapery top and bottom you like and then draw a polygon shape over the lines where they meet. Add some fold lines with the callout tool.

from the looks of the 105" long panel, the entire window will be covered by curtain. any chance of mounting higher? you did not indicate a ceiling line on your drawing or crown molding so there may be room...I wasn't sure.

Hi Fonda,

You have to zip the .mms file first. Here is a link in case you forgot how to do that. http://www.minutesmatterstudio.com/f...hread.php?t=11

Let me try again. The only thing I'm worried about is there are 2 pages and page 2 is the one I'm hoping you will find.

this bedroom I did for the webinar is similar in that the wall curtains start out with a top treatment image that flows into the panel
