The Advanced Level Studio designer coaching program for Minutes Matter Studio is offered exclusively through the WFCP (Window Fashions Certification Program) and Minutes Matter. Merlyn Corcoran, a Studio Instructor with Minutes Matter, will be conducting these coaching sessions. At Minutes Matter we find that most people are barely skimming the surface of how they can fully utilize the multi-faceted Studio software in their business. In the Advanced level coaching program, experienced Studio users will be exposed to techniques and tools which will add polish, depth, and dimension to their renderings, as well as enabling them to use Studio to design brochures, newsletters, and other marketing materials.

When you participate in a coaching program, you receive live, via the Internet, hands-on time with an expert instructor. Each session is specifically tailored to suit your needs in a natural progression. When you actually perform a task yourself, you are more likely to retain it, understand it and finally allow it to become second nature. Your ability to create professional renderings that will delight your clients and have them showing their friends will move your company's services out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. Learning to utilize Studio to the max will give you the ability to accomplish these goals.

How will the Studio designer coaching program work? During our coaching sessions, you will create full renderings from scratch and also design directly on a photo of your client's room. In the Advanced program, we'll jump right into the specifics of drawing tools, perspective, photo editing, and fill effects.

*Note for Advanced Level: Applicants must complete the Novice Level coaching program or submit a project as a prerequisite, in order to ensure that all registrants have comparable proficiency. The project will include using skills such as: designing on a photograph, using the Set Scale tool, Photo Clip tool, Photo Knockout tool, adding a fabric which is to scale and submitted on your logo wall template.

Will I need the facility for speaking during the 'classroom' ? I have never tested my microphone in GotoMeeting, I don't use a headset as the Mac has a built in camera and mic. They work just fine on Skype.. If I need to be able to speak, is there a way to test before the first class?

We can do a test together, Linda. And yes, it will help you to be able to use your microphone to ask questions and respond. Just email me with a couple of times that would be convenient to test and I'll set it up. The Mac laptop mic and speakers are considered "poor" in their listing (see image below), but we can try it out and see how it goes. If it doesn't work that well, you can plug in an inexpensive (under $20) USB headset. I had one person in the last session who used the Chat box to ask questions and respond; it wasn't ideal but it worked okay.

Mic & Speakers Setup - Mac Users

Mac users can select audio devices in-session only. Input and output devices connected to your computer are automatically detected.
To select and test your Mic &Speakers

• You can select and test your audio devices through the Audio pane of the Control Panel. If your audio devices are connected correctly, you will see the sound meters in the control panel light up green.
• If the meters for Mic or Speakers do not light up green when you or others are speaking, click on the icons in the Audio pane of the Control Panel. A drop-down menu will appear when you click either icon.

• Microphone - To test, speak into your microphone; if the correct device is selected, the meter will light up green.
• Speakers - To test, select a device from the drop-down menu. If connected correctly, the meter will light up green and you will hear an audio track through your speakers.
• If the green meters do not light up, select another device listed in the menu and repeat the test.
• Adjust speaker volume on your Mac keyboard.

Mic & Speakers Setup - PC Users

To select and test your Mic & Speakers

1. After you've logged into the session, select "Use Mic & Speakers" in the Audio pane of your Control Panel.
2. Click Audio Setup.
   1. Select a microphone from the drop-down list (a). Speak into your microphone: If the correct device is selected, the meter will light up green.
   2. Select speakers from the drop-down menu (b). Click Play Sound: If connected correctly, the meter will light up green and you will hear an audio track through your speakers.Note: If the green meters do not light up, select another device listed in the menu and repeat the test.
   1. The volume bar can be adjusted at any time during the session (c).

   Note: Advanced - Audio levels are automatically adjusted. We recommend you keep this checked. If you uncheck this selection, you must manually configure your audio settings through Windows Sounds and Audio Devices. If your attendees can't understand you because your voice is distorted, try un-checking "Microphone boost."
   

   1. Click OK.

I'm pleased to report that Linda's Mac did just fine, she was able to hear and speak with no problem using VoIP, with her computer's built-in microphone and speakers.
