I am trying to layer my logo but the fill in the box is getting in the way. I have tried "No Fill" but still have a white background. Anyone know how to do this?
  • Merlyn's Avatar
if your logo is an imported image (a .jpg file for instance), you can use the Photo Knockout feature and remove the white background. Import the logo, right click and choose Properties > Fill. Move the transparency bar until the white has been erased. When part of the image is also white, use a polygon or close bezier shape behind the image to fill in the white color.

If you attended May's Webinar on Exterior Design, you may remember the segment on how to help your client visualize a new paint color for the front door. One of the designers I mentioned, color expert Maria Killam, is hosting a free webinar on that very subject next Friday, May 24 at 11 AM Pacific (12 Noon Mountain, 1 PM Central, or 2 PM Eastern)! You know I was going through my Studio program tonight thinking about making a new brochure. What I thought was missing from my window treatments was modern window treatments and modern hardware. I found a great hardware company with fantastic finals and rods and would love to be able to incorporate some of them into my treatments. Just a thought.

Shades and valance in the same family as the wall color (hard to tell in the dark photo) with an inset banding in blue or green would be a good choice for a tailored treatment. Doing TDBU Romans to comply with the new shade safety standards will take a bit of engineering in the fabrication. You could also do shutters painted to match the woodwork.

Thanks Merlyn, No fabric has been chosen.Privacy is an issue because windows are ground level and you can see the golf course. They were thinking about covering the bottom one's with top down bottom up. shades. A valance across the top would work. Colors are sage green sectional, dark hardwoods with a large blue, green and creamy yellow floral needlepoint rug. The wall color is light yellow with orange tint. Your help is appreciated...

What is the need - privacy, light control, just decorative or ?? I would probably suggest roman shades on the lower windows and door and a valance above all. Has a fabric been chosen?

January - Top Twenty Tips & Techniques

Q: what is the font used on the segoe print.JPGtext?
A: Segoe Print - there are three different styles; download here: http://www.azfonts.net/load_font/segoepr.html

Q: When I create my own designs, I have trouble moving the edit points to get a smooth curve.
A: If you are using the Polygon tool, hold down the Control key and click to add more edit points to help smooth out the line; with the Close Bezier tool, hold down the Shift key to make it easier to move the edit points.

Q: Where is the Customer Hub?
A: Look up above to the brown bar - click on the button all the way at the far right.

Q: Please explain how to change wall color in a picture (photo).
A: Use your Polygon tool to trace around the perimeter of the wall, excluding the furnishings. Fill with color, pattern, texture or wallcovering.

Q: Please consider adding more hard treatments such as those from Hunter Douglas to the Image Toolbox.
A: There are several ideas for the Silhouette and other HD styles available to download on the Lounge. Check this thread:
    http://www.minutesmatterstudio.com/f...ght=silhouette

Q: Where can I find the Studio Style Guide?
A: click on Customer Hub and under My Account you'll find the downloadable file.

Q: What is the name of the Malachite fabric you used?
A: I started with Jim Thompson's Gemstone but couldn't get a full repeat; the one I ended up using was from Spoonflower.

Q: Is it possible to view the webinar on my iPad?
A: Yes, follow the instructions here to download the app: http://www.minutesmatterstudio.com/f...from-your-iPad

Q: How do you crop fabric?
A: We recommend using Irfanview www.irfanview.com to crop fabric samples to the perfect vertical and horizontal repeats. Watch the mini-clips to learn how:

Q: Where can I find the hot keys or shortcut keys?
A: click on the question mark in the upper right hand corner of your Studio program to open the Manual. Then click on Index; hot keys are under Getting Started.

Q: How do I add tools to my Quick Access toolbar?
A: Right click on the tool icon (you may need to have an image selected on your workspace to highlight it) and choose Add to Quick Access Toolbar.

Q: How do I delete tools from my Quick Access toolbar?
A: You can click on the down arrow at the end of the bar and de-select the tool, or you can reset the entire toolbar by clicking on the raspberry icon > Options > Quick Access tab > Reset.

Q: What measurement should I use when I want to change the drawing scale with the Set Scale tool.
A: Any known dimension can be used - the width of the window, the height of the door, ceiling height; it works best when the dimension is drawn on a straight on view photo. Angled walls cannot be 100% accurate. Watch the mini-clip here: http://minutesmatter.com/Z_MM/mini_clips/setscale.wmvAttachment 8958
